Nikki Wallschlaeger, “Sonnet (51),” 2018. Risograph print on French Pop-Tone 65# Cover. Edition of 200. 11×17 in.
This broadside for "Sonnet (51)" draws on motifs from other poems in Wallschlaeger's collection, Crawlspace. Capitalism, politics and the original sin of slavery are running themes in her work. Lincoln and Washington make multiple appearances throughout, so I used their respective positions on the five- and one-dollar bills to illustrate the titular 51.
