Healthy Plants Healthy Bodies is a prekindergarten gardening curriculum developed at the University of Missouri, and implemented around the state by parents and volunteers as well as teachers.
I created a visual identity and marketing pieces for the program in addition to the curriculum document itself and the supporting educational materials.
The identity brands the curriculum for marketing to school disrticts, and also forms a flexible system to identify and organize a huge variety of educational materials.
The identity is bright and playful, and uses colors from the University of Missouri’s secondary color palette to ensure that it works well in co-branded applications.
The curriculum employs a system of icons derived from the geometry of the logo. The intersecting half-circle motif integrates the set of marks, which designate types of activities and help highlight important information for the adults implementing the program.
The logo type is set in Alegreya Sans, a superfamily available for free through Google Fonts. The rest of the identity uses various weights of this face as well as it’s companion, Alegreya Serif. This ensures that volunteers and educators can easily create branded materials with the right look and feel.
