Studio 12 was assigned to me through a studio lottery during my first year of graduate school. The name was catchy, and I liked the challenge of developing an identity from a random name, so I created an imprint for the publications I made in that space. Knowing that I would only inhabit Studio 12 for one year, I allowed myself to make the mark trendy rather than durable. I also designed it with open negative spaces and sturdy line weights, knowing it would be applied using rubber stamp, letterpress, offset, laser and inkjet printing.
